Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes
ABC is the only organization to provide certification of therapeutic shoe fitters.
A Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes, as defined by the American Board of certification in Orthotics & Prosthetics (ABC)
is a health care professional who is specifically trained to provide non-custom therapeutic shoes, and non-custom multi-density inserts.

A qualified program must be approved by the National Commission on Orthotic & Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) and encompass 16 hours of study. The learning modules cover all the required content areas you will need to pass the exam. The learning modules are composed of both patient evaluation and fitting.

- Shoe Fitting & Selection Criteria

It is designed to enable you to complete the course at your own pace. The course is perfect for the busy professional wishing to advance their career.
Our course includes a required patient evaluation and fitting live practice laboratory. The live laboratories are real time demonstration and practice of fitting , orthotic production and modification techniques and are a minimum of two hours in duration.
The live practice laboratory must be completed after passing the final exam of the lecture portion of the course.
The live laboratory is completed online via video conferencing from your location with the instructor. Contact the Academy of Pedorthic Science to schedule the interactive laboratory.
The laboratory segment of the course must be completed within ninety days of passing the lecture portion final exam.
